Gypsy Rondo (Johannes Brahms)

Brahms knew the finale of his Piano Quartet No. 1 would be a crowd pleaser. The breathless, headlong Rondo alla Zingarese, or "Rondo in Gypsy Style" prompted his friend, the Hungarian violinist Joseph Joachim, to jokingly tell Brahms "In the last movement you beat me on my own turf!" This bravura, exciting arrangement for string quartet will be great fun for both performers and audience.
